Cupak, seeing the giants wandering about in the palace. trembles with fear, and asks his younger brother Grantang to tie him to the top of the tree and then fetch the princess. By means of magic, Grantang, who is really the son of a god, easily takes Princess Mustikaning Daha away from the palace of Detya Menarung. Cupak, seeing that his brother has succeeded in freeing the princess is very happy, and tells him that since he is the elder brother the princess is to be his wife. Grantang obeys him, because he is already glad that he has been able to save the princess. Mustikaning Daha, knowing that she has been saved by Grantang, is delighted because soon she will certainly see her parents again. She tells Grantang that the giant-king is very powerful, but he can be killed if his mouth is shot 'by an arrow. Hearing this information, Grantang immediately takes his bow and arrows and shoots the giant-king in the mouth. This being done, Cupak, Grantang and Mustikaning Daha set off for Daha. On their way, being very tired they fall asleep and Derya Menarungs sister, Ni Butawili, kidnaps Mustikaning Daha. When the two brothers wake up they are starled, and try to find Mustikaning Daha. At last they discover Ni Butawili and Mustikaning Daha hidden in a well . Grantang climbs down the well with a rope, easily kills Ni Butawili and asks his brother to pull Mustikaning Daha up with the rope. When Grantang himself is climbing up his brother suddenly cuts the rope, because he wants to marry the princess himself. Grantang falls down into the well again, Cupak, with an air as that he is the one who has saved the princess, heads for the kingdom of Daha, where he gets an enormous welcome as the one who has saved Mustikaning Daha. Before the wedding-day Cupak is asked to rest first in the rest-house and is given a new title, Mantri Anom.

Granting, left by his brother, tries to climb up the well with a ladder made from the bones of Ni Butawili. Having been in the well for a long time, however, he is very weak and cannot walk. Again Cupak hears the news that Grantang is still alive. Mustikaning Daha on hearing the news too, makes an effort to help Grantang because he is really the one who has saved her from the power of the giant-king Detya Menarung. Having found him, she persuades him to go to the palace and make his appearance before her father, to whom she will report that is he who has really saved her life.
